Emerging Leaders Program

2020-2021 ASERVIC Emerging Leaders Program

The Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC) is pleased to announce the 2020–2021 Emerging Leaders Program. This program is intended to provide graduate counseling students (master’s or doctoral level) and/or new professionals the opportunity to become involved in experiences that support leadership skills, competency development, and diverse opportunities within ASERVIC. Selected individuals will be invited to actively participate in ASERVIC Executive Board meetings; serve on a committee, task force, and/or projects of interest; receive mentorship; build professional networks; and gain exposure to the responsibilities associated with fulfilling elected leadership positions.  The ASERVIC Emerging Leaders Program offers graduate counseling students (master’s or doctoral) and/or new professionals early in their careers the opportunity to expand and enrich their leadership within the profession.

The Emerging Leader program is open to graduate counseling students (master’s or doctoral) and new professionals. Emerging Leaders will provide a minimum of 50 hours of service to ASERVIC during the 2020-2021 fiscal year term (July 2020 to June 2021).  Recipients must be an ASERVIC member at the time of application submission, and your status (i.e., master, doctoral, or new professional) should be based on your student/graduation status as of June 1, 2020.  New professionals must have graduated within the previous year to qualify for the program.

Emerging Leaders will receive free conference registration to both the 2020 ASERVIC and 2020 ACA conferences (dependent on service as a volunteer for ASERVIC during the conferences), be recognized at the ASERVIC annual awards ceremony at the ACA Conference, and be featured in ASERVIC’s Interaction newsletter. Each Emerging Leader will also receive mentoring and a stipend of $333 upon meeting the full 50 hour service obligations.

Applicants who have exhibited exceptional leadership potential and that hold a willingness to serve ASERVIC in a variety of roles for the betterment of the counseling profession and the consumers of counseling services are sought. Interested applicants should submit the following to Dr. Paige Bentley, pbentley@wakehealth.edu, no later than January 8, 2020:

  1. The ASERVIC Emerging Leaders application
  2. Your curriculum vitae
  3. Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can describe your leadership skills and experiences, and potential service as an ASERVIC Emerging Leader.

We want to encourage those not chosen to inquire further about other ways to be involved with ASERVIC. Your service and contributions are so important!
