State Division Development Grants


ASERVIC State Division Development Grants are intended to support activities in state divisions that empower and enable the expression, exploration, development, and research of evolving spiritual, ethical and religious values as they relate to the person, to society, and to the profession of counseling and human development. Projects that enhance the division and member services are highly desirable. Priority will be given to state divisions working on reactivation and expansion of services to professional members, and those that help members to enhance their professional identity and their sense of commitment to the counseling profession and personal excellence. Grants provide a stipend of $50-$500 as seed money for state projects.

Eligibility once every three years maximum

Policies on Use of ASERVIC Funds:

Please note that funds may not be used for travel or honoraria to association officers or faculty. Allowable expenses include the following:

  • Printing of workshop programs, flyers, and handouts
  • Purchase of supplies for workshops
  • Refreshments for events (not to exceed $75)
  • Honoraria and travel for speakers (ASERVIC members only)
  • Purchase of awards on one-time basis to establish awards program
  • Decorations for events
  • Supplies and advertising materials for events
  • Cost of meeting room rental
  • Cost of audio-visual equipment rental

Non-Allowable expenses are as follows:

  • Travel
  • Conference Registrations
  • Meals for chapter members (recognition lunches, dinners)
  • Honoraria to non-ASERVIC speakers
  • Purchase of books, videos, training materials
  • Speaker honoraria or travel if ASERVIC members are charged to attend the event
  • Donations to community agencies and programs
  • Research projects
  • Play therapy, sand tray and other counseling laboratory materials

Changes in approved budget items over 10% must be approved in advance by ASERVIC Awards Committee or expenses will not be reimbursed.

  • Description of the project not to exceed 2 pages to include
    • General overview of project
    • Implementation details
    • Expected benefits to the chapter
    • How efficacy of the project will be assessed
    • Budget of how funds will be used
    • Timeline Outlining implementation time-frame (note project should be completed within a year of application)

Deadline: Awards will be accepted on a rolling timeline, and awarded based upon merit until grant funding is exhausted. Award decisions will be made within 30 days of receipt of completed application. Funds must be awarded by June 30, 2017.
